Abstract

The paper analyzes author’s neologisms created by means of holophrasis in combination with other
usual and occasional types of word formation (suffixation, hendiadys, apocope, paradigmatization, and
addition). Further, the article dwells on the lexicographic representation of holophrastic constructions
in author’s dictionaries of coinages and analyzes some dictionaries of certain authors that include
neologisms created using one specific word-formation method. When compiling their dictionaries, the
authors pay attention to the specific character of the dictionary entry and name the type of the sentence
that was used to produce the holophrase. Some authors do not single out holophrastic constructions
directly, though some of the author’s nonce words could well be considered as created by means of
holophrasis.
