Abstract

The paper studies the concept of intercultural competence and the stages of its development. The author emphasizes the importance of teaching basic intercultural competence in the framework of university programs, determines the aims of developing intercultural competence in students and looks at the conditions for making intercultural education the main or additional program in the system of undergraduate and graduate studies. Many graduates of Russian universities deal with international cooperation in various fields. Prospective employees are required to be able of resolving and avoiding international conflicts, negotiating with foreign partners and finding creative solutions to intercultural problems. Thus, intercultural competence is becoming one of the main skills of modern bachelors and masters.
