Abstract

The paper defines a website as a multicoded hypertext characterized by coherence. Coherence of a website differs from that of a printed text: in case of websites, nonlinear coherence is more relevant, which corresponds to the text content as a semantic web and not as a linear sequence of text units. Coherence of a website is realized by both traditional means (lexical, grammatical, formal) and new means (hyperlinks).

Keywords

coherence, website, multicoded, hypertext, hyperlink.
