Abstract

This article studies the influence of information technologies on creative activity. In the world of modern technology, ideas about creativity are changing. An approach is spreading in the information society according to which creativity is not a substantial, human quality, but a phenomenon arising in the field of communication. This necessitates a constructive analysis of creativity in the light of the new historical context. The use of the activity approach allowed us to reveal the influence of information technology on all components of creative activity: subject-personal, procedural-technological and objecthistorical combined. It was determined that the motivation for self-fulfilment in one’s professional activity is an important characteristic of the subject of creativity in the information society. Turning to interactive creativity allowed us to detect a tendency towards the abolition of the subjective-personal component of creativity. The information support for the procedural and technological component of creativity as inventive activity is considered here in a number of aspects. It is demonstrated that in today’s society the objectification of the results of creative activity takes the form of innovation, which affects the nature of the new. We conclude that information technologies expand the space of creative activity and provide the means for developing a person’s creative potential; at the same time, the person remains the source of creativity. As in any other society, in the information society creativity embraces a person’s entire existence, including the historical and sociocultural nature of his/her activities. It should be noted that when the study of creativity in the information society underestimates the axiological aspect of creative activity, inventiveness substitutes for creativity.
