Abstract

This article studies the traditionally defined boundaries of philosophy, as well as the potential of philosophical practice, a resurgent type of philosophizing aimed to solve everyday problems of a modern person. This topic is relevant, on the one hand, due to the need for a critical approach to understanding philosophy only as an experience of thinking and due to the importance of using its potential in practice in the current situation, with the rapidly growing knowledge accompanied by a loss of former meanings and identities. On the other hand, the issue is important due to the relative lack of awareness among the Russian philosophical community of the movement of philosophical practice. Key aspects of philosophical practice in the context of integrative processes, nowadays covering all spheres of knowledge, are identified here by means of comparing it with the phenomenon of transdisciplinarity. The research aimed to determine the common conceptual grounds of these aspects within the framework of the post-non-classical paradigm, which can be of theoretical value. Transdisciplinarity and philosophical practice turned out to have the following points of intersection: pursuit of clarity and stability determined by specific individual solutions while moving beyond the disciplinary limits and boundaries of their forms of activity; focus on the subject and his ethical position; partner-like interaction based on dialogue and communication. Philosophical practice implements open philosophizing, offering those who are interested a philosophical support of their personal and professional activity, assistance in creative self-expression and socially responsible decision-making. The experience of philosophical practice can be extended to the practice of transdisciplinary research. The paper shows that putting this valuable innovation into life can be facilitated by the “quiet” – as opposed to the paradigmatic – transdisciplinary revolution. It is worth noticing that this article is, essentially, the first Russian-language study of the phenomenon of philosophical practice considering it in connection with other sociocultural processes of our time.
