Abstract

According to the author, the quality of higher education is the education system resulting in the ability to meet current and potential needs of the individual and society, and conforming to the requirements of the Russian Federal Standards of Higher Education in training highly competitive professionals. Today, the integrated approach is taken as a basis for quality control of professional training of students. Given the importance of common approaches to the quality management of students’ education, we see the need to single out the process approach, which reflects the goal-oriented quality management and helps to: manage the teaching processes, predict learning outcomes; use positive experience; solve the problems of training and development of students in a comprehensive way; optimally use material and human resources; create and apply effective teaching techniques. The process approach allows one to organise and present quality management as a continuous process chain of logically related actions implemented by means of functions (interaction with the environment; quality policy; quality control; quality information; activity development; decision making; implementation of activities), having a certain effect on education. All the functions are logically connected with each other, and their consistent implementation results in continuous quality control activities within the university or department. This article determines the characteristic features of the process approach, which, with due account taken of them, can help improve the quality of students’ training in general and the quality of professional education in particular. The process approach to the quality management of students’ education is based on the following algorithm of the teacher’s actions: setting result-oriented goals; preparing the methodological support; organising the process; evaluating the results; correcting. Particular attention is paid to the achievement of students’ meta-subject and personal learning outcomes. The process approach is aimed at continuous technological reproduction of the educational process; a creative teacher, however, will always find ways to incorporate student-centred techniques into this process.
