Abstract

This paper presents a socio-philosophical analysis of deviant behaviour as an interdisciplinary issue. Deviant behaviour is seen as persistent individual behaviour deviating from the most important social norms and doing harm to the society or the person itself. The author believes studying the issue of deviations to be relevant due to their ambiguous interpretations in view of the transforming societies and suggests exploring the variety of disciplinary approaches on the basis of theocentric, naturalistic, and sociocentric anthropological paradigms. The theocentric paradigm presents human behaviour as a struggle between good and evil, while behaviour deviating from the accepted norms is seen as а result of the influence of supernatural forces. The naturalistic paradigm considers the man to be a part of nature and explains his deviant behaviour by the natural environment: geographical factors, biological structure, inherent mental qualities. Particular attention is paid to the sociocentric paradigm, explaining deviations by the influence of economic, ethno-religious, political, legal and cultural factors. At the same time, the author looks at suicide, one of the most acute forms of deviance. It should be noted that all the presented approaches deal with various aspects of the study of deviant behaviour and have obvious advantages and disadvantages. Based on this research, the author reasons that deviant behaviour can be comprehensively studied using the multidisciplinary approach.
