Abstract

This article turns to the events of the Great Patriotic War in the context of current developments in Eastern Europe and around the world. This topic is particularly relevant today and implies underlying conspiracy theories and comprehensive philosophical reasoning, for philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of reality. In the early 21st century we can observe how the events of that war are being continuously misrepresented, the symbols of victory undermined, war victors deheroized and the Soviet Union and Russian Federation discredited in the information space. This situation calls for a “return to the resources”, restoration of the truth, which must stay unshakeable also in the new millennium. The turn of the 20th century saw an exclusively negative presentation of the war’s events in the information and ideological space. These include ingenious anti-Sovietism, falsification of facts of major and decisive battles, misinterpretation of the role of prominent military leaders and historical figures, as well as claims that certain military operations and self-sacrifice of the people were meaningless, etc. As we know, various periodicals abound in literary texts, memoirs and articles relativizing treason and speaking of it in less negative terms. Proponents of the so-called new thinking pursue the strategic and tactical goals set up by Western European politicians who are trying to rewrite the history of World War II, conceal the real cause-and-effect relations and absolve from blame those who stood at the head of fascist ideology, who led the “white devils” of Nazism and committed bloody crimes. The victors of that war saved the world from fascism, whose newly minted ideologists in one way or another are trying to revive Nazism and misanthropy, forgetting the prophetic words stated in Chapter 26 of the Gospel of Matthew: “They that take the sword shall perish with the sword”. These words are an absolute, concrete truth about all religious, ideological and information wars in world history.
