Abstract

This article discusses the reception of the notion of aesthesis in the philosophical tradition of the late 20th century. The multidimensional process of aestheticization of subjective reality, which in general is understood both as a representation and as ordering of the elements of social life by individual consciousness through the prism of art, the increasing autonomy of the sphere of the aesthetic proper, and virtualization of reality – all this had been studied by almost all existing schools of philosophy, which produced a great variety of ideological and terminological schemes postulating its grounds. The topicality of these issues is proved by the active debate that has captured the attention of the intellectual community. The aesthetic and the expansion of its disciplinary scope have not been studied thoroughly enough; however, the situation has gradually been changing. A univocal opinion about the axiological significance of aestheticization seems rather hard to develop, taking into account the great number of equally competent interpretations of the processual essence of the described events made by the representatives of different research traditions. The cognitive aspects of the analysed approaches could be conventionally divided into two parts: focusing on “aestheticization from the outside”, i.e. the phenomena and processes of the subject’s lifeworld that affect his/her existence, and “aestheticization from the inside”, i.e. changes in the subject’s sensual and rational structures and his/her activity according to the established beliefs. This research aims to analyse individual sensibility structures from various theoretical and methodological points of view (pragmatism and literary criticism) demonstrating metaparadigmal propinquity to the comparative principles of modern science, providing a comprehensive understanding of the latest transformations in the aesthetic component of subjectivity, and allowing us to establish conceptual continuity in the evaluation of the observed phenomena.
