Abstract

The article describes compound names as a product of creative activity of native speakers. Nowadays, newspapers are literally teeming with compound words. There is a significant increase in the number of compound names that are used in headlines. Attracting reader’s attention is one of the main functions of the press. Compound nouns, due to singularity of their structure and meaning, are often used in this function as well. The growing number of the units under study makes it necessary to include them in the dictionaries.
